The Sacred Epic of King Gesar

King Gesar of Ling—also known as Ling Sengchen Norbu Dradul—is the legendary enlightened warrior king of Tibetan and Himalayan culture. His epic story is far more than ancient history: it represents the living spirit of a sacred tradition connected with the blessings and enlightened activity of Guru Padmasambhava.

Spiritually, King Gesar is revered as a divine manifestation embodying the enlightened qualities of Guru Padmasambhava, Avalokiteshvara, and Manjushri.

One of the World’s Great Oral Traditions

The Epic of King Gesar is considered one of the world’s longest epic traditions and is recognized by UNESCO as part of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage. It recounts King Gesar’s descent into the world to subdue harmful forces, dispel ignorance and injustice, protect the sacred Dharma, and benefit sentient beings.

As taught by H.H. Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche, the King Gesar tradition can help pacify obstacles, restore harmony, and bring benefit during difficult times.

Through this bilingual book and sacred audio recording, may the profound Lingdro tradition continue to be preserved, practiced, and passed down for generations to come.

Every purchase supports the monks of Dudjom Dundul Raptenling Monastery through the Vajra Lotus Foundation.
